Hope in Tears

Our heart aches with pain and sorrow,
For Haiti, our beloved land so dear,
Struggling to rise up from the shadow,
Of poverty, strife, and fear.
Tired of seeing other lands rise,
While our people, left to agonize,
Humiliated, with tears in their eyes,
Wondering when they’ll reach the skies.
We beseech the heavens above for might,
Strength, for solace and survival, to fight,
To quell this unrelenting plight,
And lead them to new heights.
Yet, we implore Hell with the same plea,
What can we offer to be affliction free?
What can we sacrifice to ensure prosperity,
And bring about a change for all to see?
Oh, Heavenly and Hellish powers, hear us out!
What can we proffer, to conquer our people’s self-doubts,
Lift them up, and lead them out,
Towards a future, free from despair and clout.
Strong in spirit, our heart bears the weight,
As our people toil, suffer, and wait,
Again, what can we do to help them attain,
A future, not filled with chaos and disdain?
Our hope strong, but our questions remain,
What can we offer to end this pain?
